For the third year in a row, Italian technical footwear, clothing and accessories brand La Sportiva has used its sales during the ‘Black Friday’ weekend to support nature conservation. Generously donating 20% of the weekend’s income to the European Outdoor Conservation Association (EOCA), La Sportiva has been able to boost the funds available to the Association’s conservation projects.
EOCA was delighted when its member La Sportiva took the initiative to raise extra funds for the Association to spend on conservation during 2017 and then again in 2018 and 2019. In total, a donation of €4400 for the Association was raised through the fundraising activity in 2019, 100% of which the Association will put into the conservation projects it supports during 2020. The cheque was handed to EOCA at ISPO 2020 in Munich. The projects it will support will conserve threatened landscapes, habitats and species, and will also have a clear link to the outdoor enthusiast.
Catherine Savidge, Joint General Manager of EOCA said “We very much value our partnership with La Sportiva. The novel ways in which they find to support EOCA throughout the year really help boost the conservation actions we can support around the world and also the awareness of important conservation issues.”
“In a weekend where most of the brands push sales with aggressive discounts, for the third year in a row, we decided to support EOCA and make our Fans part of a positive change.” says Francesco Trenti, La Sportiva E-commerce Manager. “In the last years, the landscape around us has changed a lot, due to the global warming. It’s our responsibility, as a brand leader in the Outdoor market, to make people and customers more responsible. Consequently, the Black Friday was just a perfect occasion to spread the message and give the community the possibility to support EOCA Plastic Free project. The long partnership with EOCA and the more recent “1% for the Planet” certification, are just two of the many activity that testify the big commitment of the Company toward planet Earth.”
